A guide for placing a geocache in New York State

This information has been compiled from various sources and is placed here as a 'guide' to help you in the placing of a geocache within New York State.

National Parks	Geocaching is currently banned in National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges. This includes the Appalachian Trail. It is a National Park, therefore caches may not be placed on or in close proximity to it.

Albany Pine Bush Preserve	All off limits to geocaching.

New York State Wildlife Management Area	All off limits to geocaching.
Teatown Reservation	All cache pages must state "all geocachers must check in to the administration building before seeking the cache and the administration building is open dawn to dusk daily".
General New York State	We have been asked to NOT place caches on mountain tops or right at the overlooks. Please keep caches down within the tree line. Most land managers I've talked with about geocaching insisted that all containers be labeled as a GEOCACHE on the OUTSIDE. Since that is already in the cache listing guidelines I would like to stress the importance of it again.
